The property on Manchester Road, Knutsford is within a conservation area, meaning that all windows were to be of identical design to the original box sashes. The conservation officer required all glazing beading to match original putty fixings. Also, due to the location of the property, ie next to a busy major trunk road through Knutsford, the client required considerable noise reduction without compromising the period look of the property.
The Old English Window Company designed the new windows specifically to reduce noise through the glass and surrounding frame. We installed the windows particularly to minimise voids around the box frames insuring that all potential noise routes were eliminated.
All period features from the original windows were extracted, for recreation within the new frames, such as glazing bars, and external horns and including the remanufacture of the original architraves to match existing door frames within the property, new beads were recreated from hardwood to match the existing putty style fixings. All windows were fitted with fully locking sash fasteners and pulls to match the original fixings.
